I'm 17 and new to posting here. Just heard the Jam on DP 16 and was blown away. Any suggestions for concerts with this energetic vibe?

The Jam - Dark Star > Crypt > TOO > Crypt - is better the night before.

Beware of an ugly cut though.

Not sure which particular "jam" you mean, but if you're interested in 1969 material, there are tons of great-sounding boards here. The April shows at The Ark are pretty amazing, along with the shows from the Avalon earlier that month. You really can't go wrong with '69. Find a few with good sound quality and you'll be happy. They all "jam."

That 4/22/69 Ark show, has a pretty great (if mellow) "jam" connecting Mountains of the Moon and Dark Star. Check it.

My new mantra is "8-6-71" as I have to establish my Street Cred in my last year of my early era obsession.

Important consumables are involved...

Welcome! I have a Word document that devotes one page per show to the 500 or so most often downloaded shows on the Archive, 1965-1979 -- date, venue, place, my own notes, set list, extracts from reviews, URLs -- in chronological order. You could use it both as a guide to the best shows that most people here seem to be familiar with, and as a document you could use to catalog your own reactions (if your mind works that way). If you would like a copy emailed to you, just send a note to me at mmiedmonds at gmail dot com Happy to attach it to a reply.

I got the list from you on 11/27/2007 - about 422 pages and titled "NOTES ON GRATEFUL DEAD RECORDINGS, 1965-1979"

Have you many updates since the 11/27/2007 version?

I add a few shows a month, as we discuss them here and I discover ones I overlooked. I haven't kept track of the additions separately, though.

It's too big to attach to a post here (3MB / a little over 600 pages). Happy to send it to anyone who would like it.

Yeah, this show. The 6/24/70 Port Chester NY show. The whole thing is epic but the Dark Star>Attics>Dark Star>Sugar Magnolia>Dark Star>St Stephen>China Cat>Rider is a MUST!
